A wide range of periods are covered, from the prehistoric periods (Paleolithic through Chalcolithic periods), the Biblical periods (Bronze and Iron Ages), Greek and Roman cultures (Hellenistic through the Roman and Byzantine periods), and the medieval world from its inception in the Muslim occupation of the region to the days of the Crusader kingdoms. Within these chronological and geographical frameworks, a variety of subjects are available, corresponding to the academic staff’s various specializations. These include architecture and art, the study of ancient artifacts, materials and technologies such pottery, lithics, ground stone tools, metallurgy, archaeozoology, microscopic functional analyses, conservation of cultural heritage and metallurgy as well as the archeology of ancient China.
